Dear Emmanuel Family,

As promised, I am writing the second quarterly newsletter! (2 in a row…a trend!)

We finished up the first quarter with a glorious Easter celebrating our Risen Lord! We followed the joyous celebration with our annual Easter Egg hunt in the garden for the children.

If you have not been to the garden recently… Bill and Sharon Neukam put new plants around the fountain to replace those that did not survive the winter. Bill and Courtney put a wooden fence around the air handler to “hide it”. and Paige Hanks donated a little library that has been installed! It is worth a visit!! Courtney plans to work with the Sunday School teachers to have the children help paint the new fence to bring more joy to the space!!

We have had 2 instalments of the “Did you know?” series on the last Sunday of the month, we have covered “A journey through the Book of Common Prayer” and the most recent class on “Understanding the Eucharist”. We meet in the Library on the last Sunday from 9:30 to 10:15. If you always wondered about something we do…. Let me know – I will find the answer!

Children’s Sunday School is out for the summer, but our kids continue to bless us by taking major roles in our worship on the first Sunday of the month. Yay Kids!!! The older group is busy (even through the summer) in refreshing the look of their Sunday School room. They have plans to paint – have new curtains made and go on a “road trip” to Hobby Lobby to pick out new wall décor!

Speaking of KIDS…. We have 9 kids attending Camp Capers this year! The first one went to camp on Sunday afternoon! Please keep all of our kids in your prayers. They are our future and anything we can do to help them learn to love God and His people means a better world for everyone!

We asked for volunteers to help in some of our ministries…. And YOU stepped up!! We now have folks watering our garden weekly, taking our recycling weekly, helping make calls to those that are homebound or have not been to church lately, helping with Sunday breakfast (in a BIG way with Joni out for a couple of months), keeping up with kitchen laundry, and you will soon see a couple of new folks serving as Lectors on Sunday! We could still use a few folks that can drive others to doctor appointments and those who would like to be trained to take Eucharist to those that are not able to come from time to time. If you would like to help – contact Barbara Mars

So much for keeping it to one page…

Here are some dates for your calendar!

July 1 – August 9th – There will be quite a bit of activity around the church. A film crew working on the 1923 show (prequel to Yellowstone), will be on site transforming the alley behind the church into an old western town to do an all-day shoot. They will be working in the alley and on Main Street and will use our lot to park their construction stuff. For a few days at the end of July all streets around the church will be blocked to traffic. We will NOT have Evening Prayer on July 31st.

July 7th – We will start a Check in – Check Up between services. We will provide blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, blood oxygenation and …. Weight… if you want to… We could all be taking better care of ourselves…

July 14th – our annual Burger Bash fundraiser with burgers with all the trimmings and a side will be available to purchase after the late service. ALL proceeds will benefit our Scholarship fund which helps us provide scholarships to our college students and send ALL of our kids to camp! Eat here or take it to go – but please be sure to support this very important ministry to our kids!

Last 2 weeks in July – we are signed up to deliver Meals on Wheels! If you are interested in helping, please contact Lynne Lewis.

July 20th we will have a Celebration of Life service for our dear sister Clare Brice with interment immediately following in our columbarium and a reception following in the Parish Hall.

That leads us to August 11th – we will have our annual “Blessing of the Backpacks” when we bless all students, teachers and educators and we gear up for another school year!

I was led to understand that the “green and growing” season of Pentecost was a “slower” time for the church office and the priest, a time to “catch up” on a few things…. I believe that I may have been misled….

Under 2 pages… getting better!

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In His Service,

Mother Karen+
